AFCON U23: Dele-Bashiru Confident of Team's Chances
Watford FC midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has vowed to contribute to the success of the National U23 team as the Olympic Eagles get set for AFCON U23 in Egypt.
The English Premier League based attacking midfielder confirmed this in an exclusive chat with correspondent Sharif Abdallah in Ismaila, Egypt where the Dream team Vll are currently camping.
While assuring that he will add his best to the team in all areas, Dele-Bashiru noted the team is well equipped with the talent to mount a successful title defence.
“Personally, I just want to help contribute to the team both attacking and defensively and bring to the team what I am best at which is going forward and either scoring, assisting and creating chances.”
“The players are very good, very talented players, competitive and hardworking. We all push each other to work hard during training. Obviously, no one has a certified place in the team yet, so everyone’s fighting as well as they can in showing what they can do.”
“I want to go all the way with the team and win it and I’m going to try my hardest, work hard to help the team in any way possible”, assured Dele-Bashiru.
Born in England to Nigerian parents, the 20-year-old was part of Flying Eagles team at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland back in June.
He was amongst the goals- scoring the third- as Nigeria thrashed Qatar 4-0 in the opening game at the tournament.
