There is more reason for happiness right now in the Super Eagles camp as exciting forward Samuel Kalu was on Monday declared fit to feature at the ongoing 32nd edition of the African Cup of Nations holding in Egypt.
Team Administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor revealed to the thenff.com that Ibrahim Gyaran, Team Doctor alongside a CAF medical officer, had travelled to Cairo with Kalu to conduct a test.
Achor, speaking from the team’s Helnan Palestine Hotel in Alexandria and confirming the news said, “Kalu has been declared fit to play as from now. His featuring in Wednesday’s match against Guinea however depends on if he is picked by the technical crew led by Coach Gernot Rohr”.
Samuel Kalu, who plays for Girondins Bordeaux in France, had fallen while about to take a corner kick during training on Friday evening in Alexandria, prior to Nigeria’s AFCON opener against Burundi on Saturday. He was quickly stabilized before taken to the hospital for further tests, where he was said to have suffered dehydration.
Following the incident, the pacy winger was ruled out of reckoning for the game against Burudi which the Super Eagles won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Odion Ighalo.
Nigeria who are top of their group take on Guinea in their next game on Wednesday, at the same Alexandria stadium, with a win for them confirming progress to the next round.
