1.2 MILLION ETHIOPIAN IDPs RETURN HOME
Authorities in Ethiopia say 1.2 million internally displaced persons havebeen returned to their homes – representing about half the total number forced to flee by recent ethnic conflicts.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed visited the people who had returned home in southern Ethiopia, where the government says it is providing building materials to repair their damaged houses.
Abiy has introduced numerous political reforms, some of which have led to an upsurge in ethnic violence.
Rights groups have warned that many root causes of the conflicts have not been addressed.
