The National President of the Association of Senior Staff of Banks Insurance and Financial Institutions, ASSBIFI, Olusoji Oluwole has reacted to the suspension of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Emefiele who has been widely criticised following the implementation of a controversial cash policy was suspended at the weekend by President Bola Tinubu and subsequently taken into custody by the Department of State Services, DSS for investigations.
Reacting to the development in an interview on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, the ASSBIFI National President, dismissed several claims including speculations that the CBN governor’s suspension was politically motivated.
He, however, called for a speedy investigation into the terrorism charges leveled against the CBN governor by the security agency in order to ascertain the truth.
Oluwole also disclosed that the announcement of the CBN governor’s suspension impacted the country’s financial market positively. He said the Nigerian bonds market recorded an increase in investment over the weekend despite the democracy day holiday.
