The Caretaker Chairman Committee (CTC) Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area, Promise Reginald, has criticised the call for the arrest of CTC chairmen in the state by the Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
This comes as the political tension in the state continues. Mr Reginald, who spoke on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, says the move by the lawmakers is a plot to cause anarchy in the state.
Meanwhile, some callers on the show also shared their thoughts on the call to arrest the CTC chairmen.
“They cannot arrest the caretakers whether law or not,” one caller angrily reacted.
He noted how the security situation in the state had worsened since the political fallout between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
However, another caller in support of the Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers argued that the CTC chairmen have flouted a Supreme Court order. He insisted that the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly is legitimate. This is despite court processes challenging the legitimacy of the lawmakers after they defected to the All-Progressives Congress, APC.
