Until we remove the hands of politicians in the appointment process of the judiciary, we cannot have a serene and sane judicial arm of government - Barr. Chioma Choko
Port Harcourt based legal practitioner, good governance advocate and Human Rights lawyer, Barrister Chioma Choko, believes that politicians have had too much interference in the Nigerian judiciary.
Barrister Choko tells Andrew Ifiemi on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire, that several "unneccesary" applications are being filed at the courts, resulting in conflicting court orders.
Recall that the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi alongside Chief Judges of Kebbi, Cross Rivers, Anambra, Jigawa and Imo states were summoned by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, to answer questions on the controversial conflicting orders delivered in their various states.
