Deborah Pamzat has emerged victorious in the second Group A debate matchup at the ongoing 'I Beg To Differ' Tournament of Champions.

Pamzat, who was the first runner-up in the March 2022 Edition of the student debate tournament, defeated Chiagozie Isidore in a debate centered around the topic "African Countries Can't Focus On Climate Change."

During the debate, Deborah argued passionately against the motion, emphasizing the importance of African countries focusing on climate change to mitigate against the hazardous impact it has on life, crops, and livestock.

She further stressed that climate change is a global issue and with the availability of support funds from developed countries, African countries cannot afford to exempt themselves.

On the other hand, Chiagozie argued that African countries have adapted to harsh climatic changes over time and found ways to harness these changes in agricultural production.

He also suggested that instances such as floods in areas not used to regular rainfall could help increase yields in plants from such areas.

With Chiagozie's defeat, he becomes the first debater to be eliminated in the Tournament of Champions.

As the group stage of the tournament continues, Ruth Okorocha is set to take on Hameed Olarenwaju in Group B on Tuesday at 4 pm.
