Musk made the announcement via his twitter page on Tuesday night.
He however added usage of the the bird app would remain free for casual users.
Last month, the tech billionaire struck a deal to purchase twitter for the sum of $44 billion.
Musk is also suggesting few changes to the app since he offered to take over twitter as its owner. He says he wants to enhance the platform with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.

And algorithms must be open source, with any human intervention clearly identified.
Then, trust will be deserved.
Speaking at the annual Met Gala in New York, Musk also added that he would make twitter transparent about how tweets are promoted or demoted. He wants the software to be publicly available for critique.
The Tesla CEO believes there is so much potential with twitter to be the most trusted and broadly intrusive forum in the world.
