Sensi Solsuema Osaro, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Rivers State, assured residents that preparations for the forthcoming local council election are in progress.

Mr Osaro made this assurance on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire while responding to a court order blocking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from releasing the voter register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) for the local government elections.

He stated that RSIEC, established by the constitution, has the authority to conduct local elections, stressing that it is an anomaly to involve another constitutionally established agency to obstruct RSIEC’s activities.

The IPAC Chairman also criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State for filing a suit to halt the local government elections. He argued that the party lacks the legal grounds to challenge the October 2024 elections since it did not participate in any of the preliminary election processes.
