The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe says the relocation of the Rivers governorship petition tribunal from Port Harcourt to Abuja will address the security concerns of opposition parties in the state.

Some political parties in the state dissatisfied with the outcome of the March 18th, governorship election filed petitions at the election tribunal challenging the victory of the ruling party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking on Nigeria’s Info’s Morning Crossfire, Senator Abe expressed confidence in the judiciary, urging members of the tribunal to deliver fairness at the end of its proceedings.

He recalled how his party could not access the office of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC in Rivers State to obtain the documents required to file its petition at the tribunal.

Senator Abe noted that the relocation is not about delivering justice but providing increased access for lawyers and members of the opposition due to the hostile political atmosphere in the state.
