The spokesperson for the Rivers State Civil Society Organisation, RIVSCO Solomon Lenu, has condemned the court arrest order for the government Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and the arrest of five individuals by the police.

A Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the arrest of Mr. Ehie and five others over an alleged connection to the death of the late Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, Bako Angbashim.

In an interview on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, Mr Lenu berated the police for failing to apprehend a wanted cultist, Gift Okpara, popularly known as General 2Baba, fingered in the murder of the late DPO months after.

Mr. Lenu argued that the arrest was premeditated and was not unconnected to the ongoing political crisis in the state. He also accused the police of torturing the five individuals to obtain a false confession regarding their involvement in the killing of the late DPO.

According to him, this is a shameful act that does not speak well of the late SP Angbashim, whom he described as a man of justice.
