Former Chairperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC in Rivers state, Beatrice Itubo has berated a recent approval by the Rivers state government to employ 10,000 youths into the civil service as well as promote civil servants in the state.

The approval comes a week before the state Governorship and House of Assembly elections, and two months before the handover of the current administration.

According to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, the employment and promotion of workers is happening now due to an unhealthy relationship between the Itubo-led labour and the state government.

Itubo who denied having any personal issue with the governor said “the approval is a ploy to woo Rivers people” to vote for the governor’s candidate in the elections.

The former NLC chairperson also said two months is not enough to successfully implement the processes for the promotion of civil servants and employment into the state civil service.
