The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh has clarified a statement by the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure alleging that the All Progressives Congress, APC is secretly preparing for an election rerun following a petition before the election petition tribunal challenging its victory in the 2023 Presidential election.

According to Ifoh, the statement by the National Chairman was to alert Nigerians of the APC’s plot to seek a rerun of the 2023 Presidential election.

Making the clarification on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, Ifoh said the Labour Party believes it won the 2023 Presidential election and has presented the evidence required to prove its case at the election petition tribunal.

“We are not asking for any rerun, we are asking that our mandate be restored to us…” he stressed, adding that the Labour Party’s stance in reclaiming its mandate is clear.

Ifoh also said the party will however abide by the final decision of the court.

Speaking further, the Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC of inflating the governorship election result in Enugu State to favour the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

“We are so certain Enugu will come to Labour Party any moment from now”.

He said revealing that the party is also contesting the conduct of the 2023 governorship elections in states won by the Labour Party.
