Professor of Politics and Governance, Professor Kenneth Nweke, has recounted how two Nigerian female lecturers were denied US visas because of their ‘meagre' salaries.

Professor Nweke who was a guest on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire with Ifiemi Andrew, recalled his experience at the United States Embassy while reacting to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, saying the Academic Staff Union of Universities rejected the Federal Government’s salary increase offer.

The minister, at a media conference, had said the government offered the union a 23.5 per cent salary increase for the workforce in Federal Universities and a 35 per cent upward review for the professorial cadre.
