The state of the Emohua-Kalabari Road has remained a source of concern for commuters and stakeholders in the Emohua and Kalabari regions.
Over the weekend, a commercial driver was reportedly shot dead and eight passengers kidnapped along the Abonnema-Degema-Emohua Road, leading to calls for security on the road to be beefed up.
One of such call is from the leadership of Kalabari Se-Ikpangi of the Ijaw Youth Council, with the group threatening to stage a peaceful protest if the road is not rehabilitated and incessant kidnappings on the road are not addressed.
Chairman of the group, Edward Asikitams, spoke to Ifiemi Andrew on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, where he stated that the synergy among stakeholders in the region collapsed because of “petty politics and acrimony”.
