Wanted gang leader, Gift David, popularly known as 2Baba, insists he has no involvement in the murder of Ahoada-East Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, he also claims to be unaware of the whereabouts of the body.
Both the Rivers State government and the Rivers State Police Command have declared 2Baba wanted in connection with the killing of SP Bako Angbashim.
Speaking on Nigeria Info FM's Morning Crossfire, 2baba further denied targeting or killing innocent individuals. He clarified that the unrest in the area primarily stems from a cult supremacy battle involving rival cult groups.
2baba went on to disclose the names of other alleged gang leaders contributing to the insecurity in Ahoada-East; expressing surprise at being implicated in the current unrest despite the existence of other gunmen in the community.
According to him, he sees himself as a freedom fighter for the Ekpeye people, advocating against the perceived marginalization of indigenes by oil companies operating in his community.
The wanted suspect had earlier accused the government of not recovering arms from rival cult groups after he and his gang surrendered weapons during a Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP) arms mop-up. This, he claimed, prompted him to take up arms again for self-defense.
