As campaigns for the 2023 presidential elections begin, Nigerians have started sharing what they hope politicians and political parties would focus on during their campaigns.

Some callers who spoke on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire shared their expectations with Ifiemi Andrew.

Emmanuel, a caller on the show, said he wants candidates to say how they will quickly reduce the suffering of Nigerians.

“It would go a long way by making people to believe that there is hope in alleviating their suffering,” he said.

Goodnews, another caller, said he expects politicians to avoid telling “bogus lies”:

“I want to see politicians telling us the truth…I will like to see governors who will rehabilitate technical schools where people will go to learn handwork, and even if they didn't go to the university, they can use it to fend for themselves.”

Alozie, on his part, said he will vote based on the antecedents of candidates, but also expects the campaigns to be void of intimidation from the ruling party:

“I expect a campaign that is void of violence, derogatory words and scuffles between candidates across political lines,” he said.
