Workplace Accountability: Should employees worry about company profits or progress?

"It is the music that the madams and the ogas play, that is what their workers dance to." This was a Nigeria Info Sunny Side caller's response to questions on the attitude of employees towards the progress and profit of their workplace.

He placed the blame squarely on business owners, arguing that nonchalant workers are often a reflection of their employers' lack of commitment. According to him, the energy and dedication bosses invest in their businesses directly impact their employees' attitudes.

"The things they (the employee) complain about that did not happen are things they must have complained about that the madam and the oga did not even pay attention to," he said.

Another caller supported this view, sharing a personal story of working for an uncle who disregarded advice that could have helped the business thrive.

However, a different caller had a different opinion: “You’re a bad worker,” he stated, arguing that an employee must care about the business's success. He believes that expecting a salary without being productive is unreasonable.
