Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Joe Johnson, has attributed the 'genesis' of the political crisis in the state to a ‘conspiratorial plot.’
This follows an interview in which FCT Minister Nyesom Wike stated that the crisis in the state began after Governor Siminalayi Fubara plotted a coup that failed.
“He plotted a coup to remove the speaker of the State House of Assembly and the thing boomeranged against him,” Wike said.
Responding to this on Nigeria Info’s Morning Crossfire, the information commissioner revealed that there was a secret plan or agenda to oust the sitting governor and replace him with someone of their choosing.
“Part of what they had in their hatchet was to remove the governor and bring whoever they wanted.”
Mr Johnson also responded to Mr Wike's criticism of the judicial inquiry established to investigate the burning of council secretariats in the state:
“If you have no hand in all that is happening, allow the process to run,” he said.
