The Lagos State Government has explained that the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge Toll Plaza has to be re-opened because LCC staff members have been unemployed for 18 months and the company has enormous debts to pay.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, speaking on Daily Digest with Jimi Disu, said as of today, Lekki Concession Company owes about 11.6 billion naira and 31 million dollars to local and international lenders, respectively.

Omotosho also spoke about the services the company has rendered on the road during the eighteen months it stopped tolling. These services include lighting, security and other emergencies.

He finally pleaded with commuters to understand the circumstances that has led the State Government to take this decision.
