The Chairman of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, Rivers State, Osumah Chuks, says the appointment of permanent secretaries by Governor Siminalayi Fubara came at the right time.
Speaking on Nigeria Info FM’s Morning Crossfire, Mr. Osumah commended the Governor for the move, stating that the appointment is long overdue.
Governor Fubara had recently appointed 16 permanent secretaries in the state civil service.
Mr. Osumah also dismissed insinuations that the appointment of permanent secretaries is meant to check the activities of the commissioners following the political crisis in the state. He explained that the appointment of permanent secretaries is a routine procedure in the civil service.
Mr. Osumah further revealed that the Rivers State government, under former governor Nyesom Wike, did not fulfill its promise to recruit ten thousand workers into the state civil service, as well as the promotion of civil servants.
