The People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State has dismissed reports of a court ruling sacking some executive members of the party.
A court document circulating on social media had stated that the Rivers PDP executives, who nominated Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the flagbearer of the party in the 2023 governorship race were not the authentic EXCOs recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and therefore dissolved.
In an interview on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Sydney Gbara described the report as a move by "moribund politicians seeking notice in the political circle".
Gbara explained that the said document should be disregarded as there is no official document dissolving the state executive members.
“It's just one of those rumours that people fly about” he added.
