Barrister and Justice Activist, Mary Nazzal-Batayneh has debunked Israel's self-defense argument in South Africa's genocidal case against the Jewish state at the International Court of Justice.
Speaking on "Borderlines," a global news and politics show on Nigeria Info FM, Nazzal-Batayneh noted that "Gaza is still occupied illegally by Israel, so Israel does not have the right to self-defense and even if they did, it does not justify genocide."
"Israel is the occupier. It can shut off water and the internet, and they can go in and bomb Gaza as they want. They control virtually everything in Gaza."
The impact-driven entrepreneur noted that "there is no safe place in Gaza."
"The places Israel has told people to go for safety, they have bombed them.
According to her, 'Israel's claims of trying to mitigate civilian casualties are all lies as they are in fact targeting civilians.'
Famine in Gaza
Barrister and Justice Activist, Mary Nazzal-Batayneh further revealed that "80 percent of the world's population who are facing famine are in Gaza."
"Israel has killed one percent of the entire population. Israel has displaced almost 2 million Palestinians."
She noted that Israeli actions against Palestinians daily are "clear cut enough to show genocide."
Israel Targeting Journalists
On her part, Communications Consultant and Political Analyst, Nour Odeh insists that Israel continues to kill journalists because "they are the truth tellers, they are the witnesses and they are the ones who make sure the world has no plausible deniability."
'The world can't claim to not know what's happening in Gaza and that's due to the work of brave journalists being targeted by Israel.'
"The commitment and selflessness of these journalists is very inspiring every day," she said.
Odeh stated that despite Palestine being recognized as an independent state, Israel still controls everything. "Even our population registry is under Israeli control and Israel decides who can be issued a Palestinian ID and who cannot."
"Not just the borders or access to food, Israel decides who can be included as a Palestinian and who cannot."
Israel's Control of Calories Consumed in Gaza
In a shocking revelation, Odeh stated that "since 2007, Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza that includes calculating how many calories Palestinians can consume and what product would meet that calorie calculation."
"Gaza was turned into a prison, into a place where you are punished because you are Palestinian," she said.
She noted that every aspect of life is controlled by Israel and this comes with regular bombardment of Gaza.
