Is Police Hijab Dress Code Divisive Or Inclusive?

Reactions have continued to trail the decision by the Inspector- general of police (IGP), Usman Baba Alkali to approve a new dress code allowing hijab for female officers in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Public Affairs analyst, Jimi Disu, believes that this decision is not well thought and is divisive.

"If you’re going to open up the scene to all kinds of religious inclinations, so be it. But singling out hijab is not well thought out,” he said.

Morning Crossfire host, Wemimo Adewuni agrees with Disu and imagines how bad it will be if every police officer infuses their religious inclinations into their dress code for the job.

They both discussed some of the disadvantages of this move and what the IGP should do instead.

Do you think this is a welcome development or do you condemn this move by the IGP?
