The evolving dynamics of modern society and the ongoing dialogue about gender roles, independence, and tradition will continue to spark varied opinions, reflecting broader cultural and societal perspectives on these issues.
On Nigeria Info’s Sunny Side, one such conversation focussed on the question: At what age and under what circumstances should parents permit their children to start living alone? The discussion evolved to whether single women should embrace independence early or stay under their parent's roof until marriage.
The first caller, Chinenye, who called in Port Harcourt, suggested that early exposure to independent living prepares individuals for the complexities of adult life.
“Parents should allow their female children to live alone,” she said.
Rosemary, on the other hand, advocated for traditional values, claiming it is more honourable to be married off while living with one’s parents.
“Female children should stay with their parents until they get married,” she argued.
