15-year-old Musa Okhuoya Nicholas of Fureh College School, Ketu has secured the last semifinal spot at the ongoing 'I Beg To Differ' student debate tournament on Nigeria Info.

Nicholas faced off against 116-year-old Oluchi Akwarandu of Apostolic Church Grammar School in what callers say is "the final before the final."

Both fierce debaters gave arguments on the topic: 'Celebrities Should Be Role Models.'

In support of the motion, Oluchi Akwarandu argued that celebrities are individuals who against all odds have achieved so much in the society. They are a beacon of hope and inspiration for young Nigerians.

She argued that celebrities such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, help promote the culture and resilience of Nigerians.

Her opponent Musa Okhuoya Nicholas on the other hand, argued that celebrities promote nothing but "ills, prostitution and false reality in the society."

He added that parents and teachers are the only individuals that qualify as role models as they not only inspire but are also within reach.

According to him, celebrities do not parade themselves as role models and as such do not deserve to be seen as one.

Nicholas was subsequently considered the winner and will be joining Fabian Chigbundu, Stephenie Ehi Ameh and Emmanuel Busari in the semifinals of the tournament set to begin on Monday, 29th August.
