Nigerians' love for a good bargain is no secret, but a recent discussion on Nigeria Info's Sunny Side explored the psychology of discounts and how much they truly matter.

The conversation, centred around the recently reduced electricity tariff for Band A customers, sparked questions about how Nigerians approach price reductions in general.

While some callers, like one who found a staggering N100,000 price difference on a product by simply comparing prices across stores, emphasized the importance of seeking out the best deals, others highlighted the value of even smaller discounts.

One caller who pointed out that small discounts matter, raised the question of whether Band A customers who were previously ‘overpaying’ for electricity will receive a refund for the difference following the tariff reduction.

Another caller, sharing a "heartbreaking" experience, stressed the importance of thorough research before making a purchase, which goes beyond just seeking discounts, but empowers consumers to make informed decisions and secure the best value for their money.
