Two years after the EndSars shooting at the Lekki Toll Gate on 20th October 2020, Lagosians flocked to the scene of the ugly incident for a memorial procession.

The protesters who came chanting solidarity songs, waving bloodied Nigerian flags and carrying wooden coffins, were quickly met by officers of the Lagos State Police Command who stormed the Lekki Toll Gate fully armed.

Moments after the procession gathered steam, fully armed police officers fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse unarmed protesters at the toll gate.

Some callers on Nigeria Info's Hard Facts while reacting to the incident said, they wondered when the government would learn and become sensitive to the pains of its people.

According to them, there was no reason for the police to harass, intimidate and use force to disperse protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate.

"We have a right to protest, we have a right to say we don't like what is going on, we have a right to say people actually died at the toll gate and nobody should bury it," Ann, a caller said.

The callers called youths across the country to come out and express displeasure through their Permanent Voter Cards PVC).

The #EndSARS protest began with young people protesting against the extra-judicial killings perpetrated by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, a Nigeria Police Force unit created in 2002 to deal with robbery incidents.
