IBTD: Emmanuel Busari Secures Semifinal Spot

The second quarterfinal matchup of the ‘I Beg To Differ’ debate tournament on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts saw 13-year-old Emmanuel Busari of Ifako International Secondary School advance to the semifinal.

Emmanuel faced 15-year-old Ajike Deborah Joseph f Wellspring College on the topic, 'Children Under 15 Should Have Their Own Phones.'

He argued that for the sake of security, learning and technology, Children Under 15 Should Have Their Own Phones.

Emmanuel noted that with the new crop of devices around, parents can easily monitor the online activities of their kids and wards.

Deborah, on the other hand, argued that children below 15 are not mentally and socially mature to handle phones.

She added that early access to phones exposes children to pornography and cyberbullying at an early age.

Emmanuel Busari qualified for the semifinals with a cumulative score of 172 points, while Ekemini Awesome scored 151 points.
