The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), withholding those of 215,267 students.

This represents 11.92 percent of the 1,805,216 students who took the test.

The head of WAEC's Nigeria Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, said were withheld for misconduct, including the use of phones in examination halls.

“The increasing use of mobile phones in the examination hall, despite the existing ban, and organized cheating in some schools, are other nagging issues,” he said on Monday.

“All the cases are being investigated, and reports of the investigations will be presented to the appropriate committee of the Council for consideration and final decisions.”

Dr. Dangut emphasized that the Council will continue to penalize examination malpractice.

He announced that the SSCE results were being uploaded to the WAEC results website.

Candidates can apply for their digital certificates after checking their results online.

He assured that the certificates will be released 48 hours later, while copies of the result listing will be sent to schools.

The 2024 WASSCE began on 30 April and concluded on 24 June.
