Security personnels converged on the main gate of the University of Lagos as students readied to protest against the institution's tuition fee hike.

The Department of State Services (DSS), the police, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) all converged to stop the protest.

As of 9:42 Wednesday morning, no students were allowed to go into the campus. Some students were seen waiting near the gate, but could not get in.

This is coming after the Student Solidarity Group Against Fee Hike, a prominent student organization, announced its intention to stage the demonstration against the school fees hike

A student who spoke on account of anonymity said they were chased away with tear gas.
