President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the bill establishing the Federal University of Environmental Technology in Ogoni, a move aimed at addressing environmental challenges in the region. The signing took place on Monday at the State House in Abuja.
Announcing the development, Bwala Daniel, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, stated:
“I am pleased to inform Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assented to the bill establishing the Federal University of Environmental Technology, Ogoni, in Rivers State.”
Daniel emphasized that this decision aligns with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, which seeks to address historical inequalities and foster inclusive institutions for balanced national development.
He also highlighted that the approval follows the recent establishment of a federal university in the Southern Kaduna district of Kaduna State.
“For President Tinubu, there are no minority ethnicities in Nigeria,” Daniel stated. “He firmly believes in the opening stanza of our national anthem, which reminds us that though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood, we stand.”
Daniel also noted that the establishment of the university is part of President Tinubu’s broader commitment to national development and unity.
