The Supreme Court has affirmed the election victory of Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun State.

The apex court set aside the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Adegboyega Oyetola’s appeal challenging Adeleke’s election.

The court ruled Tuesday that the appellant failed to show enough evidence to prove his allegation of over-voting in the 16 July 2022 governorship poll.

The judgment was adopted by all five members of the panel of Justices and read by Justice Emmanuel Agim.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Adeleke the winner of the election, with 403,371 votes to Oyetola’s 375,027.

But the APC candidate and his party challenged the result at the Tribunal which ruled in his favor, upturning Adeleke’s victory and declaring Oyetola the winner of the vote.

Governor Adeleke appealed the ruling and on 24 March the Court of Appeal nullified the Tribunal judgment and returned Adeleke.

An Oyetola and the APC headed for the Supreme Court which just ruled in Adeleke’s favor.
