Nigeria’s power grid has collapsed for the seventh publicly acknowledged time in 2022.

The system crashed to zero megawatts at 10:51 am on Monday, according to a notice from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC).

This resulted in the “loss of supply currently being experienced across the network,” according to the distribution company.

EEDC’s head of corporate communications, Emeka Ezeh pointed out that the company was on standby “awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”

The national power grid had 3,712 MW of power an hour before the collapse.

It last crashed to zero MW on 20 July, having earlier collapsed twice in Marchtwice in April, and once in June.
