The body of another woman has been found in her apartment in the Ogbumbada compound in Rumalogu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
An eyewitness, Miss Chika, said the woman, identified as Blessing Williams, was found dead in her apartment on Thursday, 9 November. She said Miss Williams, a single mother of a nine-year-old boy, had been sick for some days.
“It happened in our old yard on Tuesday when we came back from church. The woman’s neighbor came and told us that the woman was not feeling fine, so we went to visit her.”
She also said the woman refused to tell them where to find her relatives while she was sick, describing her death as sad.
“We were asking her if she has a relative in Ozuoba, Choba, anywhere, or if there's any number she could give us to get to her people. She said she doesn't have anybody,” she said.
Speaking of how they heard of the woman’s death, she said: “This morning, I was in my house when the son was passing by. So, my mum called him and asked how his mum was doing. He said his mom was fine,” Miss Chika said.
“He was looking tattered, so I asked him to go and have a bath and come and take money to get something for him and his mom.”
Miss Chika added that the boy ran back a few minutes later to say his mother was unresponsive to his calls.
The neighbors alerted the police and deposited the corpse at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital’s morgue.
The Rivers State Police Command is yet to speak on the matter.
The death occurred days after the body of a female student of the University of Port Harcourt was found in her apartment in the Aluu community in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
