Stella Nwadigbo, a teacher at Christ Mitot School, has pled not guilty to assault charges during her appearance at the Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The Lagos State Police Command arraigned her on Thursday following a viral video showing her allegedly assaulting a three-year-old pupil.

Nwadigbo, who resides in the Isawo area of Ikorodu, Lagos, is accused of striking the child with slaps and blows while teaching him to write numerals.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, the incident occurred on January 7 at Christ Mitot School, Ikorodu. Akeem stated that the charges violate Sections 135 and 172 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Chief Magistrate O. Kushanu granted Nwadigbo bail in the sum of N200,000, requiring two sureties of the same amount. The case was adjourned until February 18 for further mention.
