The federal government has uncovered 14 properties belonging to Abba Kyari, the former commander of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force.
They include shopping malls, a residential estate, lands, and farmland which Kyari allegedly failed to disclose his ownership of in the Federal Capital Territory and Borno State.
Over N207 million and Є17,598 were also discovered in his bank accounts in GTBank, UBA, and Sterling Bank.
In a fresh 24-count charge filed against Mr. Kyari by the Director of Prosecution and Legal Services dated August 30, 2022, the Attorney-General of the Federation stated that the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) disguised his ownership of some of the properties.
The case filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja has Mohammed Kyari and Ali Kyari, believed to be the policeman’s siblings, as co-defendants.
The federal government also filed separate 24-count charges against Mr. Kyari’s former deputy, Sunday Ubua, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who is under suspension.
