The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Wednesday, issued a final quit notice to Apo-Dutse traders to vacate the area before its bulldozer moves in.

The Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection, and Enforcement to the FCT minister, Ikharo Attah said the administration had given the traders enough time to vacate and will not extend its new 24-hour notice.

The FCT Ministerial Taskforce on City Sanitation had issued a seven-day quit notice to the traders before the last Ramadan.

He was forced to extend it due to the fasting.

Mr. Attah stated that the administration has exhausted all the avenues for negotiations and would no longer engage with the traders.

He also noted that the traders' activities in the area were illegal and pose a security threat to the FCT.

"The FCT Authority has given them 24 hours to quit before the machine will roll in. This market is the biggest partaker market in Abuja.

“We have given them a long period of notice, prior to the last Ramadan and after the holy month.

"We also raided shanties at Dape area of Gwarimpa District and others in Limito axis of Kado fish market"

The Taskforce arrested 14 suspected criminals and seized illicit drugs from drug dealers in the area.

Those arrested have been handed over to the police for investigation.
