Côte d’Ivoire continues to celebrate its AFCON win over Nigeria,
Following the win, President Alhassan Ouattara declared Monday as a national holiday.
A trophy tour parade was done around Abidjan, with an official trophy presentation ceremony taking place inside the 30,000-capacity Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in the city center.
This marks Côte d'Ivoire's second public holiday, because of Nigeria, within one month.
A public holiday was declared when the Ivorian national team played against the Super Eagles in their group game encounter.
The Eagles won 1-nil, with William Troost Ekong converting the penalty that gave Nigeria victory.
The loss to the Super Eagles in the group stage set the tone for last Sunday's final as only 2,000 tickets were sold to Nigerian fans.
The home fans dominated the 60,000-capacity stadium, creating an intimidating atmosphere for Nigerian players.
There have also been reported cases of intimidation of Nigerian fans in Côte d’Ivoire, despite the victory of the Ivorians in the final.
Midfielder Frank Kessie and Sebastian Haller's goals in the second half canceled out a first-half header by William Troost Ekong as the Ivorians came from behind to beat Nigeria 2-1 in the final.
The Ivorian national team is being hosted on Tuesday to an official state welcome by the government for their heroic home-soil victory.
