The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja was temporarily closed on Wednesday morning following an incident involving an Allied Air Cargo aircraft. The plane, with registration number 5N-JRT, skidded off Runway 22 during an emergency landing at approximately 10:05 a.m.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident, reporting that all six crew members aboard the aircraft were safely evacuated without any injuries.

Preliminary reports indicate that the cargo plane suffered a failure in one of its landing gears, leading to the emergency landing. Emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene to secure the crash site, which was cordoned off under the supervision of the Military Airport Commandant and other relevant agencies.

According to FAAN, the crew members were transported to the 063 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) medical unit for thorough medical evaluations.

The National Safety Investigation Bureau disclosed that airport operations have since resumed after initial disruptions. Officials from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and airport authorities are currently overseeing the removal of the aircraft and conducting assessments of the runway to ensure safety and operational readiness.
