Gunmen have again attacked and abducted 87 residents of Kajuru village in Kaduna State on Sunday night.

The attack happened following the abduction of 14 residents on Saturday in Dogon Noma community, also in Kaduna state.

At the time of this report, the Kaduna state police command is yet to verify the recent attack.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Gajere, the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, confirmed that bandits raided the Kajuru station community around 9:00 pm on Sunday night, abducting several residents.

Expressing distress over the ongoing repeated attacks and abductions on Kajuru, Gajere stated that the attacks have caused fear and panic among the residents of the area.

In recent times, Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas in Kaduna Central Senatorial District have experienced frequent and severe attacks.

One such incident is the attack and abduction of 287 students from the Kuriga community in Chikun on the 7th of March 2024.

In response to the heightened spate of kidnappings in the state, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, arrived in Kaduna on Monday to meet with the state governor, Uba Sani at the state house in Kaduna.

Speaking at the meeting with the state government which also had in attendance representatives of the Kuriga community, General Musa asserted that all abductees would be released in no time.

He noted that the Nigerian Army and other security agencies have combined efforts to ensure their safe return.

“We are working tirelessly to make sure that all those kidnapped will be safeguarded and brought out as quickly as possible,” General Musa said.

On his part, Governor Sani assured the representative that efforts are being made to ensure that security is tightened in Kuriga community.

"We are getting a lot of support from security agencies, from both the police and army,” Governor Sani added.
