About 559 Hajj pilgrims from Jigawa State escaped death Wednesday night as their Max Air plane heading to Saudi Arabia had an emergency landing at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.

Nigeria Info understands that the Boeing 747 aircraft that departed the Dutse Airport had to discontinue the journey when it was struck by lightning that affected the noose of the airplane.

The aircraft with registration number Max B747-HMM had 559 passengers and 21 crew and is currently at the Kano airport.

One of the Managers of Max Air in Kano, Bello Ramadan, confirmed the development to journalists and said the passengers would be transferred to another aircraft at the time of filing this report.

In May, another Max Air plane lost some tires while landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The Max Air flight NGL1649 a B737 aircraft with registration 5N-MBD departed Yola for Abuja with 144 passengers and six flight crew and the incident caused the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to shut the Abuja airport for about five hours.
