Heavy rainfall damaged the walls of a Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State, leading to the escape of 118 inmates.
In a statement signed Thursday by the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Adamu Duza, authorities said the rains lasted for several hours on the night of Wednesday, 24 April.
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NcoS) quickly activated its recapturing protocols, to capture 10 of the inmates.
