Port Harcourt residents are expressing dissatisfaction with the state of the Eleme-Akpajo section of the East-West Road following a recent fire incident involving a petrol tanker and a container truck near the Eleme-Petrochemical axis.

The incident, which occurred over the weekend, resulted in loss of life and damage to several vehicles.

Expressing their thoughts on Nigeria Info's Hello Port Harcourt, these callers urged the government to repair the affected section of the road to prevent future incidents.

One caller lamented the absence of a fire service station in the area, citing the petroleum-related activities as a reason for the need for such infrastructure.

Another caller voiced concerns about a lack of proper urban planning and enforcement of building regulations in the state. He highlights the proximity of buildings to major roads and the potential risks posed by passing vehicles, as well as the lack of space for pedestrians.

“Na today we don begin dey cry for fire service people”,

This last caller adds, expressing frustration at what they perceive as a lack of genuine commitment by the government in infrastructure development.
