Some residents of Port Harcourt have shared their experiences following complaints about incessant parking fines at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

Francis, an E-hailing driver, recounted his experience at the PH International Airport, noting the profiling of certain car brands for multiple charges. He disclosed that the lines indicating the designated parking points at the airport have faded, leading to many motorists inadvertently violating parking rules.

Another caller expressed concern about the reasons behind the charges at the airport and the utilisation of the collected funds. He also mentioned that drivers are hesitant to offer assistance to strangers around the airport due to fear of being apprehended by airport officials for alleged illegal pick-ups.

“Once you stop to help, they will enter your car, and before you know it, other people will arrive with bikes and hold you,” he explained.

" Is it Rivers State government that manages it... They want the name Port Harcourt Airport to be tarnished’’.  A last caller asserts.

This final caller shares a different perspective, suggesting that the complaints may have political undertones aimed at damaging the reputation of the state.

He stressed that the Rivers State government should not be held responsible for complaints from the airport, as it is under the management of the federal government. He advocated that state governments be allowed to manage some federal government infrastructure within their states to ensure efficiency.
