“Whenever we are shutting down, we pray and ask God to protect our business not security”.

A caller says as he recounts his experience with the Nigeria Police in Rivers State.

This caller made the comment on Nigeria Info’s Hello Port Harcourt, while contributing to the conversation about preventing theft in the workplace.

According to him, his ordeal started when he got his employee, who was hired as a security guard arrested for allegedly stealing goods worth about 300,000 naira from him.

“Do you believe I was the one going to the station to feed somebody that stole from me, hiring motor to take him to the customary court at Eleme Road?” He said.

He accused the police and prison officers of coercing him to pay transport money to take the employee to prison after a court judgement found him guilty and sentenced him to jail.

“They threatened me that if they look for the boy and don’t see him, they will come after me… The Police PRO told me that I should see my client (employee), and that are they the ones to take him to Borikiri prison…” He explained.

The caller, who appears to have lost faith in the prosecuting agencies, said he would rather seek divine protection than rely on security agencies to prosecute a theft case.
