A caller on Nigeria Info’s Hello Port Harcourt has linked citizens' reluctance to offer help without expecting payment to a practice he alleges exists within some government institutions.
He made this observation during a conversation about citizens offering assistance to fellow citizens without demanding monetary benefits on Nigeria Info’s Hello Port Harcourt.
“The people learn from the government,” he said, noting that citizens are sometimes pressured by certain government institutions to pay for services that should be free.
This caller who gave an instance of his ordeal after being detained by the police for assisting a gunshot victim, explained that until there is a change in the system there would be no change in the attitude of the citizens.
