Emohua Local Government Council Chairman, Chidi Lloyd, has raised concerns about the financial situation of local government councils in Rivers State, describing it as "really trying times."

Dr Lloyd, in an interview on Nigeria Info's Hard Facts, discussed the ongoing issue of withheld salaries for Emohua council workers and Governor Siminalayi Fubara's stance on local government council salary payments.

Lloyd referenced a recent meeting concerning the salary disbursement to the councils and a yet-to-be-held Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting.

“We have not been called for the JAC meeting and the Federation Allocation Account meeting was held on 21st April, so that is when monies were shared to the three tiers of government,” he revealed.

A caller named Tammy joined the conversation, suggesting that “it’s just the tip of the iceberg,” hinting at the governor's authority and the underlying tensions between the governor's office and some local government chairmen.
