The Job Is For Everybody, Tompolo To Oversee, Niger Delta Stakeholder Defends Surveillance Contract

A Niger Delta Stakeholder, High Chief Lucky John has clarified that oil-bearing communities with oil pipelines running through it will be involved in the surveillance contract awarded to ex Niger Delta agitator, Government Ekpemukpolo also known as Tompolo.

Concerns have been raised by various stakeholders in the Niger Delta region over a forty-eight-billion-naira pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tompolo by the Federal Government in an effort to curb crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region.

High Chief John said monies will be paid to individuals comprising of youths, women, and men, who will be engaged from these communities for their services and not shared to the communities.

Explaining further, he tells Constance Mega on Nigeria Info Hard Facts, that the job is for everybody and Tompolo will only oversee the smooth running of activities.

“Tompolo cannot leave Delta state to come and secure pipeline in Rivers State, it's Rivers people that will do the job” he stressed.

The High Chief also said the employment sharing formula for the indigenes of these oil-bearing communities is forty percent for women and sixty percent for men inclusive of the youths.
