Teacher Alleges Neglect By The Rivers State Government, Hints Strike.

As the world marks teachers’ day 2022, A caller by the name Akere, who identified as a teacher and Deputy Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Kana branch, Rivers state, has lamented alleged neglect by the Rivers State Government. 

Akere, while revealing what the union has done to improve the welfare of teachers on Nigeria Info’s Hard Facts, claimed the union has been engaging both the state and federal governments with no result.

Specifically speaking about its discussions with the Rivers State Government, Akere said several efforts to get the state governor, Nyesom Wike to fulfil its promises had failed.

Akere also decried a shortfall in manpower in the primary and secondary schools of the state.

He tells anchor, Dayo Elusakin that the union may down tools soon if nothing is done to change the current situation of teachers in the state.
